The beauty is that CEO Group has similar values to what I wanted to encourage here. You fitted right into the mould, so it was very easy to break through as such and work with my staff.

Breakthrough Point!
We have come to recognise over the years that while we have put tremendous effort and research into designing our programmes with world class content - it isn't this in the end that brings about and sustains the breakthroughs.

It is the quality of the learning experience.
It is possible to have a wonderfully content rich programme, that fails to deliver due to never connecting with people's learning, or failing to sustain the resulting learning and changes.
What we call a -
"successful operation, dead patient".
Our key focus is therefore creating learning experiences which -
Help people identify potential breakthroughs.
Help people develop the vision, courage, confidence and desire to make the breakthroughs.
Help people to sustain the breakthroughs

Our Approach

- We have a few guiding tenants to all we do.
breakthroughs
creative pragmatism
committed relationships
development that sticks

1. Breakthroughs
Our guiding philosophy is creating breakthroughs with leaders. Hence we don't "do workshops" as such. We specialise in creating breakthrough learning experiences.

We design and create the total learning experience that is necessary to achieve the desired breakthroughs - at the organisational or individual level.

Invariably, this comes back to helping individuals recognise and achieve their true potential.

breakthrough: (n) advance, development, discovery, improvement, innovation, invention, leap forward, progress, revolution, success

Personal breakthroughs have been huge - people have raved about massive personal growth and behaviour changes at work.

Capability Development Advisor
2. Creative Pragmatism
Each individual and organisation requires creative answers to their challenges of building and extending their leadership capacity. We therefore use our long-standing relationships with international practitioners, researchers, and experts to bring you the best of what the world has to offer.

Pragmatism is important to us, because whatever we do, we're committed to making it work for you. This means we won't just work with you on what and why, we'll also show you how. We'll work with you to custom-design breakthrough development programmes to fit your exact needs. We're so confident of our ability to do this that we guarantee all our agreed outcomes with you.

In the field of leadership, their grasp of the technical information is deep, yet they have the ability to assimilate this information and filter it to make it easy to understand.

General Manager

3. Committed Relationships
We have been working with a number of our clients for over 15 years and we aim to work with clients who are seeking a genuine development partnership - not a quick fix.

We take the time to understand you and your business and commit ourselves totally to the relationship.

Our starting point is always working with you to identify the true breakthroughs required. This may involve researching and understanding your environment, culture, leadership, processes, customers and markets, vision and strategy. It may include the use of assessment tools, such as climate surveys, or 360° leadership practices surveys or emotional intelligence surveys, or focus groups.

Part of this process will be to determine and agree the measures of success for the solution - how will we know the added value has been delivered? Only when we understand your real needs, will we work with you to tailor a specific solution to address the needs, and produce the desired breakthroughs.

Top quality. I wouldn't recommend them to people who are not serious about developing their people - if they're just after a course rather than a long-term partnership then CEO Group is not for them.

HR Manager

4. Development that sticks
Experience has taught us that major breakthroughs always involve personal habit changes, attitudinal changes, or complex interpersonal skills development. These mindsets and skills are not sustained from a one-off workshop. We therefore work in these areas through 'development journeys'.

We understand how people best learn and change and have developed our own unique Multi-Learning System. This ensures that any development interventions we make have a much greater likelihood of being sustained - because they develop the desired habits, skills, and attitudes.

They have a really unique ability to get inside an individual and bring about changes. I've seen tangible differences in people's behaviour and performance (increased ability, open to new approaches, increased confidence, increased acceptance of the need for change, willingness to confront difficult issues) and demonstrable benefits for our organisation

General Manager

The General Practitioner / Specialist Paradox
We have an interesting conundrum.
Clients often ask us - "How can you be great at all the areas you cover?"
The answer lies in how we have gone about developing ourselves, in order to be of maximum benefit for our clients.

Typically, when we have seen the need and opportunity to help clients in new areas, we start with intensive international research to find out
What's known already?
Where are the gaps in current knowledge or practice?
What gives the greatest breakthroughs in this area?
Who are considered the world leaders in this area?
Where will the next breakthroughs come from in this area?

We have then formed relationships with the recognised world leaders to develop our own knowledge, skills, and practices, and conducted or contracted research to fill in important gaps.

Finally, we have created and trialled learning experiences for clients in these areas, and continually fine-tuned as new research and experience indicated.

As a result, we have always been confident that whatever we offer clients is world best practice.

The breadth of areas we have covered over 25 years means we are able to draw from many different areas of experience and knowledge when we customise and design your learning experiences.

So for us, the GP / Specialist paradox means greater value for you.
For example -
In 1987 we had several clients asking "how do we manage major organisational change, in order to successfully transform our business?"

Our research led us to identify Organisational Development Resources Ltd (ODR) in Atlanta, USA, and Daryl Conner their president, as being the recognised world leaders in this area.

Consequently we became the first people and organisation outside of the USA to be trained and licenced in the use of their 'Managing Organisational Change' research, technologies, tools, and practices.

We have been using the change principles ever since in all our work with clients, as we have yet to have a learning experience that doesn't involve change

Does our stuff work?

One of the more difficult areas for sustained breakthroughs, and where there is a degree of skepticism worldwide, is enhancing leadership talents where "emotional intelligence" is perceived to be less than desirable.

A Massey University student, Ishbel McWha, carried out a recent study for her masterate thesis - "An Examination of the Relationship Between Emotional Intelligence and Leadership".

She studied a large food retail organisation with which CEO GROUP was working. Our 360° Emotional Intelligence Survey tool had been carried out before and after a year long leadership development programme. Her research concluded a highly statistically significant increase in emotional intelligence practices and competencies, amongst the group of 52 IT managers and staff, as a result of the CEO GROUP leadership development programme
