Coaching And Mentoring

Coaching And Mentoring

Creating breakthrough coaches and mentors who leave a legacy of enhanced potential in others …

One of the greatest gifts we can give another human being is to help them achieve their true potential in life - awaken and free their latent talents.

This is the real legacy of breakthrough coaches and mentors.

As such, it is totally enriching for both parties.

What is mentoring?

Coaching and mentoring are often used interchangeably. We see them more as points on a continuum. Coaching is more often focused on a specific area for potential improvement. Mentoring is more holistic, more whole-of-life, and often requires a much deeper level of openness, sharing and trust.

Some see a mentor as a teacher or wise counsel - someone who offers knowledge, insight, advice, perspective or wisdom to another person, usually by someone who is older and with more experience.

Our philosophy on mentoring is not this "teacher and guide" approach.

To us, mentoring is -
A mutual relationship of positive influence
A proactive, collaborative learning partnership, focused on the mentoree.
Helping a person to learn, rather than teaching them.
Enhancing and unlocking the skills, talents, resources, and creativity the mentoree already has.
Helping unlock a person's true potential to achieve fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives.
Learning, change, and transformation - re-inventing oneself.
A conversation, or dialogue, between the mentor and mentoree within a productive, results-oriented context.
About learning, and achieving sustained change breakthroughs - in thinking, beliefs, attitudes, behaviours.
A long-term journey of mutual discovery - helping the mentoree discover who they are and what their potential is, and likewise for the mentor.
Leadership in action.

While coaching and mentoring can be seen as different points on a continuum - a continuum of helping another person to learn, change, grow - to us they require the same philosophy and competencies in order to achieve real and sustainable breakthroughs.

Our Mentor's Creed

² Everyone is unique.
² Everyone wishes to realise their potential, but may need guiding towards discovering this.
² Everyone has the potential to be successful and a desire to be so.
² Change is an inside job - everyone has the freedom of choice to change, or not.
² The key to change, learning, and development does not lie in changing the behaviour, but in changing the thinking that gives rise to that behaviour.
² Individuals have the freedom of choice over what they will do with their lives. Mentors work by helping others build their own internal motivation, desire and responsibility to change, and to overcome their own self-limiting beliefs, thinking, and behaviours.
² Everyone needs a compelling personal vision - something to make the future exciting
² People need to experience change as exciting, a challenge - not as overwhelming.
² A person's development is influenced by their environment - it needs to be positive, encouraging, stimulating.
² Anxiety, and even resistance, is a natural reaction from people as they undertake a change journey, even when they see it as positive.
